Each of the halves will comprise of 7 episodes, which makes the total number of episodes for the final season to be 14. In comparison to the rest of the three seasons which had just 10 episodes, the purpose of releasing 14 episodes for its final season is to give more context to the show.
The series follows the life of the Byrde family and the series of unfortunate events that unfold because of their poor decision making. So far season three has ended with Wendy getting her brother killed in Episode Nine. In Episode 10, Ozark lays so much groundwork for new episodes, setting up Marty and Wendy’s ascension to Omar Navarro’s right hand, that it’s fairly easy to imagine what the series will look like going forward.
“Ozark’ is a gripping drama that has captivated audiences all around the world and garnered tremendous critical acclaim,” Netflix’s vice president of original content Cindy Holland concluded. “We’re so grateful to Chris, Jason, Laura, Julia, and the entire cast and crew for all their tireless dedication to the show and can’t wait to see how the Byrdes’ journey comes to a close.”
The cast for season 4, which doesn’t have a release date yet, will see Chris Mundy return as showrunner, writer and executive producer once again. Bateman, who won an Emmy for directing the series, will be back, so will Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan and Lisa Emery. In addition to Bateman and Mundy, executive producers will include Mark Williams, John Shiban, Patrick Markey and Bill Dubuque. Linney will serve as a co-executive producer on the final season.
What the new season could be all about?
We see how the Byrde family accidentally gets involved in money laundering for a drug cartel. With an ax hanging over their heads and the threat of being murdered looming around. The family is forced to get their hands dirty while trying to adjust to the new city.
Their constant struggle to maintain a facade of a happy family whilst working for a drug cartel is what the show is centered around. Season 4 will be giving a detailed account of what is the aftermath of their involvement with the drug cartel. According to sources, the fourth season will also include tons of twists and turns for the Byrde family to navigate through.
