Created by David Schulner, New Amsterdam is an American medical series. It was based on the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer.
The first season of the series aired on September 25, 2018, on NBC followed by the second season on September 24, 2019. The third and fourth seasons were released on March 2, 2021, and September 21, 2021. In March 2022, NBC renewed the show for a fifth season.

New Amsterdam Season 5 Release Date
There are only two episodes left in Season 4, and they will both air on May 24th, 2022. Considering that, the fifth season should release toward the end of 2022 or in the first half of 2023.
The upcoming season would consist of 13 episodes, which has been confirmed. Any other additional information might be revealed in the next few months.
New Amsterdam Season 5 Plot and Cast
New Amsterdam will end for good after its upcoming fifth season on NBC. Season 4 wrapped up recently, but now Deadline has confirmed that the medical drama is officially ending after the next 13 episodes. NBC’s president of scripted programming Lisa Katz said,
“The story of Max Goodwin and his never-ending commitment to patients at New Amsterdam has been inspiring. We’re so grateful to [creator] David Schulner, [executive producer] Peter Horton, and our cast and crew for their incredible dedication, talent and collaboration.”
In light of this announcement, Universal Television’s president Erin Underhill also had a few words to share:
“When I first read the pilot script for New Amsterdam, I knew we had a winner. We cheered Max’s disruption of the status quo and applauded when he asked his patients the simple yet profound question, ‘How can I help?’
“Over the last four seasons, David, Peter and our incredible cast have tackled important and thought-provoking stories that have touched on the human condition, but also made us laugh and imbued hope. We’re so proud of this series and are indebted to everyone involved in bringing New Amsterdam to life. Bravo!”
Now talking about the cast, it includes Ryan Eggold as Dr. Max Goodwin, Janet Montgomery as Dr. Lauren Bloom, Freema Agyeman as Dr. Helen Sharpe, Jocko Sims as Dr. Floyd Reynolds, and Tyler Labine as Dr. Ignatius – Iggy – Frome.
We will also get to see Anupam Kher as Dr. Vijay Kapoor, Alejandro Hernandez as Casey Acosta, Em Grosland as Brunstetter, Debra Monk as Karen Brantley, and Christine Chang as Dr. Agnes Kao.
