It is dedicated to the original documentary and so nothing will be changed by the makers. It focuses on the American Samoa soccer team while they confront a perception that describes them as one of the worst teams ever as they attempt to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

The filming for the upcoming film has begun in November 2019 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and wrapped by January 2020.
In September 2022, the film was officially given a release date of April 21, 2023, but got delayed and now it is scheduled to release on September 22, 2023. The makers have not revealed much about the film but we can expect to have the unrevealed details in a few days since the release date is approaching.
