neXt on Fox: Premiere date and more interesting details!

neXt is an upcoming crime drama science fiction series on Fox. The show is created by Manny Coto for Fox Broadcasting Company. Fox had first ordered a pilot for the show in February 2019, and gave the greenlight to the show in May 2020. Manny Coto, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Charlie Gogolak serve as executive producers on neXt. The show is produced by Zaftig Films and 20th Century Fox Television.

The premise of the show, as listed on its official website, is this-

“Silicon Valley pioneer Paul LeBlanc discovers that one of his own creations — a powerful A.I. called neXt — might spell doom for humankind, so he tries to shutter the project, only to be kicked out of the company by his own brother, leaving him with nothing but mounting dread about the fate of the world. When a series of unsettling tech mishaps points to a potential worldwide crisis, LeBlanc joins forces with Special Agent Shea Salazar, whose strict moral code and sense of duty have earned her the respect of her team.

Now, LeBlanc and Salazar are the only ones standing in the way of a potential global catastrophe, fighting an emergent superintelligence that, instead of launching missiles, will deploy the immense knowledge it has gleaned from the data to recruit allies, turn people against each other and eliminate obstacles to its own survival and growth.”

neXt on Fox- Who is in it?

The pilot of neXt was ordered by Fox in February 2019, and the series in May 2019. Eve Harlow was cast in the pilot in February 2019. She plays the role of Gina. Fernanda Andrade, who plays Shea Salazar, and Aaron Moten, who plays Ben, were both cast in the show in March of 2019. Later, alongside the announcement of the pilot’s order, other cast members of neXt were also confirmed. These include John Slattery as Paul LeBlanc, Michael Mosley as CM, Jason Butler Harner as Ted LeBlanc, and Elizabeth Cappuccino as Abby. 

neXt- When is it premiering?

The show was first scheduled to premiere as a mid-season replacement in the second quarter of 2020, as part of Fox’s 2019-20 season. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was delayed. It is now part of the 2020-21 season. neXt is scheduled to premiere on Fox on October 6, 2020.
