Nokia 8.1

The current Nokia licensee HMD Global has been launching the X-series phones which are exclusive to China with a “Plus” suffix globally. Looking at past, the Nokia X6 came as the Nokia 6.1 Plus while the previous iteration Nokia X5 debuted as Nokia 5.1 Plus in the global markets. As you know, the company has recently launched the Nokia X7 smartphone in China which everyone was speculating to come as Nokia 7.1 Plus globally, is now reported to come as Nokia 8.1 instead!

The Nokia 8.1 was recently spotted in a GeekBench listing and following the same, a popular tipster ‘Nokia anew’ revealed on Twitter that HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas had changed his mind and decided to bring the new smartphone as Nokia 8.1 globally. Further, the device is expected to arrive next year, most likely after the MWC.

As far as the GeekBench listing is concerned, the Nokia 8.1 sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC clocked at 1.71GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device runs on latest Android 9.0 Pie and although we don’t have information about any other specs, all of the known details are in-line to the Nokia X7 which was launched sometime back in China. Coming to the benchmark scores, the Nokia 8.1 has scores 1,841 in single core tests and 5,807 points in the multi-core tests.

To recall, the Nokia X7 came in China with a 6.18-inch full-HD+ display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio due to the Notch. Powering the phone is octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, coupled with 4GB/ 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of inbuilt storage. In the camera department, the phone gets a dual rear setup with an optically stabilized primary 12-megapixel sensor having 1.4-micron pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, f/1.8 aperture, followed by a 13-megapixel secondary camera sensor at the back with fixed focus. On the front, we have a 20-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for Selfies. Further, it bears 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
