Noughts + Crosses: Plot and Cast

The show certainly has a very interesting plot and is set in an alternate history. Here, Black people called Crosses rule over white people, called Noughts. The story is set in present day London, where the two main characters, Sephy and Callum meet.

700 years ago, all the nations in West Africa combined to create the Aprican Empire and colonised Europe. The West African countries enter a Great War and end up dividing Europe into various colonies. The Malian Empire controls mainland Europe while the Aprican still regains control of the British Isles and Scandinavia.

Very few Noughts are able to achieve leadership among the armies of the Crosses. This is especially the case since segregation is highly enforced even in present-day conditions. And these are the conditions under which our main characters first meet!

Persephone ‘Sephy’ Hadley (played by Masali Baduza) and Nought cadet Callum McGregor (played by Jack Rowan) are childhood friends. Upon rekindling their friendship, it soon becomes a romantic relationship and they fall in love. Sephy is the daughter of a high ranking Cross politician while Callum’s mother is a housekeeper for the Hadley family.

Among these high trials, how are the two supposed to achieve their love, especially at a time of segregation?

Noughts + Crosses Season 2: Release Date and Trailer

Let’s start with the good news. In the end of Season 1, Sephy and Callum don’t suffer the same fate that they do in the books. Which means the story in the second season will be a lot pleasanter. Phew, what a relief!

On the other hand, BBC has not yet confirmed a second season. However, since Season 1 left a lot of questions unanswered, not to mention the immense popularity of the show, we expect there to be another one!
