On The Rocks: Plot and Cast
Privileged and sophisticated Laura (played by Rashida Jones) thinks she is living the perfect life. She is happily married with two daughters. However, once her husband Dean (played by Marlon Wayans) starts spending more time at the office with a coworker, she starts to doubt his fidelity. She decides to ask her dad Felix (played by Bill Murray) to help her out. Interestingly, her dad is a womaniser and a charming man who seems to be a throwback from another era.
After Felix suggests chasing Dean throughout the city to figure out his whereabouts, both father and daughter embark on a journey along New York’s downtown scene and upscale bars. Felix flirts with women everywhere he goes while Laura is the stoic one, a blocked writer who got a book deal without even writing a word.
Even though they embark to figure out Dean’s fidelity, they end up discovering themselves and their relationship with each other during it all. Laura realises that she feels like a busybody and can’t relax in her relationship while Felix understands the impact of his raising Laura as a daddy’s girl who never completely grew up.
