Developed by Erica Saleh, One of Us Is Lying is an American young adult mystery drama television series. The series is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Karen M. McManus and follows five high school students who enter detention, where one of them dies under suspicious circumstances and an investigation ensues.

The series premiered on Peacock on October 7, 2021, and received positive reviews from critics. It currently holds an approval rating of 89% in Rotten Tomatoes. Considering the positive response, the makers renewed the series for a second season in January 2022.

The ending of Season 1 revealed that Jake was responsible for Simon’s death. The situation had started as a sick prank between Simon and their ex-friend Jake before Jake decided to remove the epi-pen from the nurse’s office and to frame cheating girlfriend Addy for murder.

However, the ensuing chaos ended up with Jake dead, with Cooper, Janae, and Addy disposing of Jake’s body, while everyone else believed he was on the run. So, as for what will happen in season two, there’s plenty of scope for the truth about Jake’s death to be discovered.

According to Deadline, Season 2 will start straight after the events of Season 1 finale. This is a change from McManus’ sequel novel, One of Us Is Next, which is set one year after the events of One of Us Is Lying.

Coming to the cast, we should get to see Annalisa Cochrane, Chibuikem Uche, Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Barrett Carnahan, Jessica McLeod, Mark McKenna and Melissa Collazo.

One of Us Is Lying Season 2 Release Date

The first season of One of Us Is Lying premiered back in October 2021 and considering that, the second season should premiere sometime in 2022. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

The upcoming season is expected to have eight episodes like the first season. The series is produced by Universal Content Productions and distributed by NBC Universal Television Distribution.
