OnePlus 6 gets the Android 9.0 Pie Update; Oxygen OS 9.0

OnePlus becomes the first ever smartphone to receive the Android Pie 9.0 update, that too the final stable version. Recently a month ago this flagship device has received the Android P update as OxygenOS Open Beta 1, and then later on as Open Beta 2 and now officially as the OxygenOS 9.0.

This new update comes with many features such as the all-new Do Not Disturb mode, gaming mode and also accent color customizations. OnePlus has also told that this all-new Android P updated will be rolled out to OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 3, and OnePlus 3T very soon. This latest Android Pie update on the OnePlus 6 is about 1521MB but then this might differ according to the retail units.

Changelogs of this update have already been posted on the OnePlus forums, and we could see that the new Do Not Disturb mode comes with a couple of adjustable settings and also a new gaming mode which comes with a mode for text notifications and also notifications for third-party calls.

There’s also another new feature which is the accent color customization. This is basically a staged OTA rollout which means first a limited number of users will be getting the update and then will be sent to all the other devices.

“Using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout Is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices,” said Manu J, Staff Member, Beta Program and Developer Relations.

Now talking about the users that are running the open beta builds, they need to do a full clean install and get back to the official build. OnePlus has also promised that it will be providing Android updates for two years and security updates for 3 years to all its devices, that being said this will be the last update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
