OnePlus is all set to unveil its upcoming flagship i.e. the OnePlus 6T as scheduled on 30th of October. In the meanwhile, the company has already confirmed the device will bear a Water drop notch, an In-Display fingerprint scanner, and dual rear cameras. Now, the company has also confirmed that the scanner will be based on Optical technology instead of the ultrasonic.

To be relative, the Ultrasonic technology is faster, more accurate and reliable compared to the optical ones due to the fact that ultrasound can reach ridges and pores establishing a more complete and complex 3D imaging of your fingertip. Hence, it requires a lot of efforts to make an optical scanner work as fast as the aforementioned.

Moreover, we have seen phones with In-display fingerprint scanners from its pioneer Vivo, Oppo and now OnePlus will be following the same. Taking in count the fact that all the three companies are a part of BBK Electronics and share the same sort of factories and R&D, the optical reader on the OnePlus 6T is expected to be borrowed from the recently launched Vivo NEX S.

As of now, the fingerprint scanner on the Vivo NEX S is slow and requires multiple tries at times, hinting that the technology used is still not mature enough. OnePlus though may bring in an upgraded version of the same which may be more reliable and fir for regular use.

As of the leaks, reports, and things confirmed by the company, the OnePlus 6T is expected to come with a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 6GB and 8GB RAM options and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The smartphone is also reported to have a 3,700mAh battery and will skimp on Wireless charging, IP rating and will even lack the headphone jack. As on the software department, it will run on Android Pie out of the box.

To be honest, as of now, we can just speculate about how the Under display fingerprint scanner is going to perform on the OnePlus 6T. We need to wait and see for the event on 30th to be sure about what this new flagship killer is up to. Till then, stay tuned.
