OnePlus 6T McLaren to launch on December 12 in India, pre-ordered started

Smartphone manufacturers joining hands with car brands is not unknown with manufacturers like  Huawei and OPPO previously launching Porsche and Lamborghini based handsets respectively. Last month, OnePlus announced a launch event for its collaboration with British supercar brand McLaren.  The global event where the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will be launched will take place on December 11 following the December launch on December 12 in Mumbai which will also be witnessed as the company’s fifth-anniversary celebration. Now, the Chinese manufacturer also opened up the pre-order registrations while the “notify me” page is live on Amazon India.

The Indian launch event will be held at Richardson & Cruddas Limited building, Byculla, Mumbai at 6.00 PM and the fans who want to attend the event should grab tickets from the OnePlus’s official website which are offered for a price of Rs 799, starting 10 AM from December 6.

OnePlus mentioned in the announcement that the collaboration is a “long-term strategic partnership’ which means there could be a potential number of McLaren OnePlus handsets in the future. The company has previously collaborated with other brands launching a Star Wars edition as well as an Avengers edition. The smartphone which will be an Amazon Exclusive is teased with a tagline reading “salute to speed” which means it will likely to get a bump in RAM and internal storage while keeping other specs similar.

The handset will likely to include custom themes, wallpapers and design with orange heavy colors since McLaren’s signature color is orange. The company’s website also hinted a carbon-fiber back. Like the previous Special Editions, the McLaren OnePlus 6T variant is likely to come with a price tag higher than the top variant of the OnePlus 6T.

The OnePlus 6T standard variant comes with a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch and a 3D glass back with anti-glare coating.  Under the hood, it houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 coupled with 6GB /8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. It offers a rear dual camera setup of 20MP + 16MP and a 16MP selfie camera at the front. The handset runs on OxygenOS on top of Android Oreo and is backed up by a 3,700 mAh Li-Po battery.
