OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, and other models to get Google Duo integration soon

Following its recent partnership with Google, OnePlus has now announced the integration of Google Duo services on its smartphones. Google Duo’s video calling feature will be natively embedded on the company’s smartphones. The same will be seeded in a coming software update.

The company latest flagship, i.e. the OnePlus 6T will receive the native Google Duo integration in a coming update accompanied by OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5T, and OnePlus 5 smartphones. Note that the older handsets like OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T too have been confirmed to receive the same alongside Pie update. However, it may take a little while for the same.

That being said, the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 have already received the feature in the latest beta update. The OnePlus 6T is running OxygenOS 9.0.4 while the latter is touting OxygenOS 9.0.12 build with Google Duo integration. Moreover, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones will most probably get the update over this week.

Google Duo Integration on OnePlus smartphones

The addition of the new feature will enhance video calling convenience for its users. The extensive integration of Google Duo on the listed OnePlus smartphones will allow for quicker access to video calling. The best part is that users can make video calls without opening the Google Duo app.

Following the same, the Google Duo video calling capability will be blended across multiple places. This will include Call Logs, Contacts, Dial Pad, and Messaging app. Running on the beta build, the OnePlus 6 and 6T users can access the option in Contact > Select contact > See all > Choose video call. Nonetheless, you can also choose to go with the traditional carrier video calling option as per your convenience.

The January updates that arrived this week on the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 bought January security patch level update followed by screen display optimizations. As usual, it also incorporated general bug fixes and nifty performance improvements.

Prior the integration of Google Duo OnePlus bought the support for Google Lens functionality on OnePlus’ native camera app. One can use it to grab information about the objects through machine learning.
