OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 6T is barely two weeks far from the official unveil and thanks to the leaks and renders for the information we already have about the device. OnePlus’s CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will skimp on a headphone jack in a recent interview and now he has talked more openly about the same and also mentioned certain features which won’t be included in the device.

In his interview with CNET, Pete Lau, CEO, OnePlus said that the removal of 3.5mm headphone jack was sort of necessary to implement the new In-Display fingerprint scanner which is called as “Screen Unlock” by the company, this also has led to a 0.45mm thicker profile that the OnePlus 6.

Following the same, he mentioned that the OnePlus 6T will be expensive than its predecessor due to the inclusion of new technologies by saying “Screen Unlock technology is something very new and there’s a definite cost required for that new technology. It’s not cheap.”

Moreover, he exclaimed “We’re working hard on this. When we get to the day that the wireless charging can get up to speed without the implication of heat that we expect, then I believe we can integrate the technology” which clearly confirms that the OnePlus 6T will not be having any sort of Wireless Charging due to the fact that they wanted the Wireless charging to be as fast as their Dash Charging technology and can’t compromise on slimness and heat dissipation of the phone for the same.

Adding to the disappointment of fans, he also confirmed the lack of IP rating on the device which will continue to carry Daily Water Resistance. “This feature is “unreasonable” as “the number of users that are taking their phone to go swimming is few and far between”, says Lau.

Well, in a word, the OnePlus 6T will come with a water drop notch and slimmer bezels, along with an In-Display fingerprint scanner but will lack Wireless charging, IP rating, and the headphone jack!

Furthermore, the device is expected to come with Snapdragon 845 with 6GB and 8GB of RAM options, up to 256GB of internal memory, a 3,700mAh battery with Dash Charging. The official launch is scheduled for 17th of October in India. Let’s see if this new flagship killer is actually able to surprise its fans. Till then, stay tuned.
