Outlander: Multiple Spin-Offs under Consideration?

The fifth season of the historical sci-fi television series has just come to a conclusion. But the ‘Outlander’ enthusiasts are still gushing over the idea of possible spin-offs from their favorite show. The series is based on the books of Diana Gabaldon.

Ever since the show premiered in late 2014’s it has been a massive hit. The show follows the story of a combat nurse from the great war who mysteriously time travels back to 1743 where her life is threatened. Being catapulted between two different times forces the protagonist to lead a double life which in turn leads to an existential crisis. Fans have fallen in love with the epic star – crossed romance of Claire and Jamie. The story is progressing into the Revolutionary War which will define the fate of the protagonist.

Is Outlander spin-off possible?

The ‘Outland show creator Ronald D Moore is evidently looking to expand its universe. There have been talks of a spin-off revolving around the story of fan-favorite Lord John Grey. Even the show creator and Gabaldon had shown interest in the idea so for all we know it might be a possibility.

The good news? The Outlander team is open to rewarding loyal fans with another series but the bad news is we never know where John grey will turn up. Another thing we’d all like to see for Lord John is a love interest, which has always been an issue for the character seeing as homosexuality was punishable by death at that time.

But all those talks are for later. Right now fans are impatiently waiting for the upcoming season 6. But coronavirus pandemic has further delayed the show’s return. This has definitely impacted any possible spin-off plans. The fans will have to wait and see how the situation turns out.
