Starring Kathrine Thorborg Johansen, Elias Holmen Sørensen, and André Sørum, “Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes”is a Norwegian vampire dramedy series that centres on a woman who is declared dead suddenly awakes with an insatiable craving for blood, which may prove beneficial to her family’s failing funeral home, the first season of which premieres Wednesday, August 25, 2021, on Netflix.
The series is produced by Espen Horn, Hege Skjerven Clausen and Kristian Strand Sinkerud for Oslo-based studio Motion Blur.
The six-episode show, helmed by directorial duo Harald Zwart and Petter Holmsen, begins when Live Hallangen (played by Kathrine Thorborg Johansen) is declared dead. Hours later, she suddenly wakes up on the forensic table. A dark, insatiable hunger has awoken in her.
Meanwhile, her brother Odd tries to keep the family-run funeral home afloat, but the stagnant death rate in the small Norwegian town of Skarnes makes it impossible. Live has to learn to control her dangerous new nature and decide whether she is willing to sacrifice people’s lives for her own survival, which ironically goes hand in hand with the survival of the family business.
