Hello, Readers! Pray Away, a Netflix documentary film examines the controversial conversion treatment movement that erupted around the world in the twentieth century.
Conversion therapy is the dangerous belief that a person’s sexual orientation may be altered through prayer, psychological counseling, or physical intervention. Many LGBTQ teenagers and adults were persuaded or forced to join organizations that claimed to be able to assist them.
Pray Away, directed by Kristine Stolakis and executive-produced by Ryan Murphy, is about Exodus International, which was once one of the most powerful conversion therapy organizations in the world until it was revealed that some of its founders and leaders no longer believed in the therapies they were promoting.

The leaders, on the other hand, suffered with ‘same-sex inclinations,’ and many members of Exodus International have since come out as LGBTQ, disavowing the movement they created.
Kristine Stolakis directed the Netflix documentary, which she also co-produced alongside Jessica Devaney and Anya Rous. Executive producers for the film are Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum.
