Developed by Cygames, and initially announced for the PlayStation 4 in September 2018, Project Awakening is an upcoming action role-playing game in a high fantasy setting video game. Producer Kenichiro Takaki revealed that the game will be set in an open world with RPG elements. It would emphasize combat and other multiplayer elements. There will be a lot of fantasy elements too and it was supposed to be a new attempt by Cygames to enter a western console market.
However, the name was said to be the working title and Takaki was also thinking of bringing the game to PlayStation 5 if the development enters the new generation of consoles. The demo version was later registered with the European Ratings Board in 2019.

A lot of details about the gameplay have not been disclosed yet but after the announcement of the game in 2018, it was revealed that the game will be set in an open world. Information related to the gameplay has been discussed on various occasions including the CEDEC 2020 presentation where the company said that they are working to find staff members to work with them on the development of the Cyllista Game Engine and also create the game at the same time. During another interview in 2021, the director of the game Junji Tago stated that the game and engine were made in such a way so that they could leave an impact on each other. A snippet of the game was also shared a long time ago where the environment was featured in it which was looking lush and dense. The game also has a natural forest area which looks impressive with a lot of cliffs and waterfalls. The game is reported to feature the best graphics and a different kind of fantasy world. The developers have also assembled a team to make the game and the development team is also working to bring something new to the world of fantasy RPG games.
Project Awakening Release Date
A release date for Project Awakening is yet to be confirmed by the developers. It remains unknown if the game would come out in 2023 but a confirmation is supposed to be out soon. There is a possibility that the game will be released with better looks after 2018 which marks the year when reports about the game’s development came out. The game is supposed to be released for PlayStation 4 and a potential PC release date is also not confirmed for now. The compatibility for PC is yet to be disclosed but the developers are possibly making plans for it.
