Queen of the South is American crime drama television series. M.A Fortin and Joshua John Miller are developers of the show. The series is an adaption of telenovela La Rein del Sur which airs on Telemundo. Both are adapted from the novel, La Reina Del of spanish author Arturo Perez-Reverte. Queen of South: Plot
The series revolves around a poor Mexican woman, Teresa Mendoza who becomes rich building a drug empire. However, she is not aware of the danger that lies ahead. She falls in love with a member of a cartel who is later murdered. Later, she has to flee and she teams up with an old partner in the United States to take down the leader who is after her. Will Mendoza be able to fight her enemies?
The Cast
Alica Braga as Teresa Mendoza, a poor woman getting wealthy by building a drug empire. John Michael Ecker as Raymundo, Teresa’s love interest who is also a drug dealer.
Season Update
The show has four seasons up till now airing on USA network. In the begining of season 1 we see Teresa while working as a money changer falls in love Raymundo and his murder forces her to flee. She ends up in Dallas, Texas after separating from her friend Brenda.
In recent season 4 However, we see Teresa going to New Orleans to extend her network. But by the time the finale rolled around, it seemed there was no going back for Teresa as she became the undisputed head of the drug cartel. The finale opened as Teresa reorganized her cartel after taking over El Gordo’s operations.
The show is renewed for a new season 5 in 2019 but its production was delayed indefinitely on March 14, 2020 due to the pandemic.
