Queen Sugar is an American drama series based on a book by the same name written by Natalie Baszile. It is created by Ava duVernay. Award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey and Monica Macer have worked as the excutive producers. Warner Horizon Television and Harpo Films are the production companies, along with Warner Bros. Television Distribution as the distributer.

Queen Sugar Season 5: Plot and Cast
The series Revolves Around the Lives of three Siblings based in Lousiana. Nova Bordelon (played by Rutina Wesley), Charley Bordelon (Dawn-Lyen Gardner), and Ralph Angel Bordelon (Kofi Siriboe). Their father has recently died and passed on his 800- acre sugarcane farm in Louisiana to Charley. Recently divorced, she moves into rural Louisiana with her teenaged son Micah (played by Nicholas L. Ashe).
Nova is the eldest, she is a journalist, activist, and healer. Charley Bordelonis is a half-sibling to Nova And Ralph, ex-wife of Davis west ( played by Timon Kyle Durrett) and Mother of Micah. Ralph is the youngest Bordelon sibling who was recently released from prison.
The Bordelon family has been through a lot of ups and downs in the series so far, now Season 5 is known to bring to light more pressing issues as it will include the hardships faced during the Covid19 Pandemic and will also talk about the Black Lives Matter Movement.
This season will largely focus on how they tackle the covid19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests which had the whole country at a standstill. It will showcase the impact these issues have on different communities and especially on people of color.
