Hello, Reader! Looking for something wonderful to dip into this autumn? Look no farther than Queen Sugar Season 6.
The upcoming season of Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar, like season 5, will be set in the present day, tackling themes including police violence and the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, no one contracts the illness this season, like Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) did last year.
Filming for the show’s fictional St. Josephine Parish took place in and around New Orleans in 2021. The series is based on American author Natalie Baszile’s 2014 novel of the same name.
Queen Sugar Season 6: Release Date
Season 6 of the series premieres on OWN on Tuesday, September 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

What is this about?
This new season promises to be action-packed, but not all of it will be pleasant. The new season of the show, according to Essence, tries to wrap up some of the loose ends leftovers from the previous season’s finale earlier this year. Meanwhile, Queen Sugar director Lisa France told TVFanatic.com in July 2021 that the action will take place between the end of Season 5 and the start of Season 6 with a “little bit of a jump” in time.
When France told the publication that “she doesn’t think they’ve ever seen anything like it, ever, what they’re going to witness this year,” she hinted at some huge surprises. It’s a little insane. What happens to their family, and how does everyone in the family deal with legal issues? She’s at a loss for words. She also alluded to themes dealing with the hardship of African-American farmers in the United States.
