Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a video game developed by Insomniac Games. It will be releasing for PlayStation 5 distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is the first title in the franchise since the launch of Ratchet & Clank in 2016.
Announcement
Sony’s PS5 unveiling event in June had a lot of surprises for PlayStation fans, particularly fans of Insomniac Games. It is one of the first PS5 exclusives which eventually takes the pair back to a new adventure for the first time in seven years, following the reboot of 2016.
Release Date
The PS5 event revealed quite a few specifics about the game, and as time goes by, Insomniac certainly would share even more. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an exclusive PS5 but it has no release date or timeline as of yet.
Gameplay
The game has several gameplay comparisons with Ratchet & Clank (2016) and other entries in the series. Ratchet is the key player character. There’s even going to be a playable girl Lombax. The player navigates Ratchet through complex environments, beating opponents with a range of guns and equipment, and traversing obstacles.
A new mechanic is being introduced using rift portals to travel directly to distant places or other universes. The game includes the return of planets visited with some changes in prior games, and also new ones. The game can feature a larger number of monsters, visual effects, and items inside gameplay scenes with the improved processing capacity and the addition of a custom solid-state drive storage in the PlayStation5.
The technological improvements of game design are aimed at drastically reducing the loading times when switching between environments, enabling the player to enjoy a smooth gameplay experience.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was not the only Insomniac Games title to be announced, as the company also gave the first impression of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
