Realme entered the Indian Market in May this year as an OPPO sub-brand after which it split up ways with the parent company to become an independent brand just like OnePlus.  The company recently launched the Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and the Realme C1 in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Now, Realme CEO Madhav Seth confirmed that a new Realme smartphone powered by Helio P70 is on its way.

The company announced the device last week which will be the world’s first smartphone to be powered by the MediaTek Helio P70. Realme now listed it as Amazon Exclusive while confirming its name – Realme U1. The handset is being advertised as ‘India’s Selfie Pro’ and will be revealed on November 28. The Realme U1 is said to feature “the most powerful selfie camera ever”. Though it’s not clear how power is measured in selfie camera, it will likely feature the 25MP sensor offered in plenty of OPPO devices like the Find X, R17 series and the F series.

The company has further promised faster multi-frame noise reduction images, AI detection in the selfie camera from the Helio P70. The camera will be placed in the waterdrop notch that is seen on the OPPO F9 and R17 series which will also double up as a facial scanner for unlocking the smartphone. The Helio P70 chipset is built with 12 nm FinFET process by TSMC consisting an octa-core CU and Mali G72 GPU.  It is an upgrade over the Helio P60 processor and has four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and four Cortex-A53 clocked at 2 GHz.

Realme also added some stats with the announcement. The company claims it’s the first smartphone brand to hit 1 million shipments within just 5 months of brand launch. Further, it managed to reach the benchmark of 3 million users within 6 months of separating from its parent company OPPO and securing the fourth rank in online share within just 30 days of launch.
