Knives Out is one of those rare gems which belong to the list of modern classics. The intriguing mystery drama is written and directed by none other than Hollywood’s best, Rian Johnson. The theatrical release of the film had been a super success. Its recent launch on Amazon Prime this Friday has reignited the excitement of fans that were eagerly waiting to watch the brilliant spectacle again. If you haven’t watched it already, or are looking for reasons to give it a rerun, we list down some of them for you.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson
Knives Out is the brainchild of the multi-award-winning writer-director Rian Johnson, who has the directing credits for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, time travel thriller Looper, high school noir Brick and three of the best of the episodes of Breaking Bad, including the much-acclaimed ‘Ozymandias’ episode. The cinematography, setting, and the style of narration is an absolute marvel.
Remarkable Star Cast
Our Captain America, Chris Evans as Ransom, is a spoilt brat and late grandfather Harlan’s favorite. Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc is a private detective with unprecedented investigation skills who is hired anonymously to investigate into Harlan’s death. No one else could have pulled off the innocent and kindhearted nurse Marta other than Ana de Armas. Katherine Langford, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, and many other talented actors come together to weave Knives Out into a perfect murder mystery.
Everyone is a suspect
After the death of Harlan Thrombey succeeded his birthday party, which was apparently a suicide, detective Blanc soon discovers that everyone is suspect. His children and extended family, all of them were financially dependent on superrich Harlan in some way or another. As Blanc digs deeper into the exploits and intentions of the dysfunctional eccentric family, things are not at all what they seem.
Critically Acclaimed
The critics have been praising the film since its Toronto Film Festival premiere last September. The film stands at 7.9 on IMDb, 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 82% on Metacritic. The film has been given a must recommendation by all major reviewers and critics.
If this still doesn’t stir you to watch the film, watch the first 15-30 minutes of the film. We bet you’ll be hooked enough to watch it till the end. Daniel Craig’s superb accent against the badass version of Chris Evans is a rare combination!
