Reasons Why Superman Shouldn’t Become DC’s Hulk
Published
4 years agoon
Superman and Hulk do have one too many similarities after all. They are both extremely powerful and end up boring the audience when their alter ego is on camera for too long. As much as we love Henry Cavill’s charm, we go to the theatres to see the superman fly, throw punches, and use his many other powers and see Hulk smash things. It often becomes unrelatable as it is in contrast with their actual characters.
Rumors have swirled over the past week that Henry Cavill will return to play Superman for DC, though not in the way many may have guessed. As reported by Cinemablend, Cavill is in discussions for a minor role in another DC hero’s movie, and it will be a hero the character currently has existing ties with.
The rumor has opened doors to many speculations in the fan universe. There is, of course, two schools of thoughts about this happening. Some love the idea of wondering if Superman has become DC’s equivalent to Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some not so much.

Unlike Superman, Hulk Isn’t Much Of A Standalone Movie Material?
The Hulk has long been in supporting character and there’s no turbulence the Hulk having a standalone movie. Marvel Studios’ decision in this regard somewhat seems out of necessity and not out of choice. Universal owns the right to The Hulk’s character.
That there are many at Marvel Studios, including Mark Ruffalo, who desire to make a solo Hulk movie, and would love if Universal allowed for that to happen.
There’s a lot that’s still unknown about the life the Hulk had before turning into Professor Hulk
Superman Has Always Been A Leader Figure
Superman has been a leading figure for a long time now and the audience is too involved to have any less of what they’ve already been getting. For the same reasons, keeping Superman as the sidekick in one of the Hulk’s movie just wouldn’t work.
The World Wants Superman Movies, Not Just Man Of Steel 2. Fans have been waiting on more Superman movies and not just Man Of Steel Sequels now that there’s independence in the DC movie world.
DC Doesn’t Need A Version Of The MCU’s “Hulk”
It makes sense to leave Superman out of other DC hero’s movies is because DC doesn’t have a shared universe at the moment. Marvel is able to use Hulk to great effect because the MCU is connected, and there’s an overarching narrative that allows the character to grow and develop. The films have showcased more creative bent since the separation.
There’s appetite left for Superman movies
DC sure has faced distress in getting critical acclamation on the franchise. But, this doesn’t suffice for a reason to put it in the back foot. The audience, on the contrary, has shown that great zeal in reaching theatres just to unravel what Superman has new adventures to offer. This fanbase has great monetization potentials.
The good news is there’s no shortage of ideas for DC to try and make yet another awesome film for the hero at some point.
The purpose of this piece was to address the relatively less probable transition of Superman to The Hulk and why the fans aren’t happy about it. Do share alternate theories, feedbacks, suggestions in the comment section. Keep tuned for the latest updates on movies and TV Shows!
