Resident Evil 3 is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is a remake of Resident Evil 3:Nemesis(1999) and follows Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira. It was released on Microsoft Windows, PS 4 and Xbox One on April 3, 2020.
Gameplay
Resident Evil:3 Nemesis is a survival horror game where the player controls the protagonist, Jill Valentine, from a TPP to interact with the environment and enemies. The player takes control of another character for a brief portion of the game. The player can interact with the environment in several ways.
The inventory is limited to a certain number of slots and the player must often move items from the inventory to a storage box located in special rooms to manage space.
Plot
Depending on the path taken by the player, Jill’s final encounter with Nikolai will differ. One version of the events, Nikolai will attempt to start a gunfight will Jill, only to be taken by surprise by Nemesis. In another event, Nikolai will hijack Jill’s intended escape chopper and the player must choose to either reason with Nikolai or destroy the helicopter. If Jill negotiates with Nikolai, he reveals that he has killed the other supervisors and boasts about collecting the bounty placed on Jill by umbrella before escaping.
Review
It makes a strong impression, and its online companion game Resistance has some interesting ideas, but they both struggle to follow through. RE 3 is very much a companion piece to the previous game, serving as a simultaneous prequel and sequel that caps off the Saga in Raccoon city.
Throughout the game, Jill valentine is a capable survivor, more so than both Leon and Claire, and she’s well-suited to handle undead and other bioweapons.
Falls short of expectation
With the more linear, action-orientated design comes an additional downside RE 3 is not nearly as replayable as last year’s remake. After finishing RE 2 immediately fire up the game again to run through its alternative story, RE 3 doesn’t have that option. Once you finish the main story, you unlock a shop selling items that give you bonuses in subsequent playthroughs like extra damage and regenerating healths, otherwise, there’s not much left to do once you wrap up things.
