Rush Hour 4- Release Date, Cast, and more Details!

Brett Ratner’s Rush Hour film series is one of the most famous buddy cop comedy films of all time. The three films released over a period of nine years, between 1998 and 2007. The franchise was distributed by New Line Cinema and have an overall box office collection of over $850 million. The films starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as police detectives Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, respectively. The films were a big success at the box-office, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. The franchise has since garnered a cult following all over the world.

Rush Hour 4- What we know so far

Ever since Rush Hour 3 released, fans have been demanding for a fourth film. There would be news and rumours now and then, but none of them concrete enough to establish some solid ground for the fourth Rush Hour film. However, in 2017, Jackie Chan said that he had agreed to a script for Rush Hour 4. The work on the film was supposed to begin the following year, once Chris Tucker also signed off on the screenplay.

In February 2018, Tucker finally confirmed himself being onboard for the fourth film. He was quoted as saying,

“It’s happening. This is gonna be the Rush of all the Rush-es. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”

In January 2019, Tucker provided another update about the film on the Winging It podcast. He said that they were working on the script and some other details and that they are trying to get it into production. He also teased the fans in April 2019 via an Instagram post, when he met hi co-star from the film, Jackie Chan, for his birthday. The two actors are pictured together, holding up four fingers each.

It has been a year since that Instagram post, and we still don’t have another update on Rush Hour 4. Keeping hopes intact, whenever the film does happen, we can expect Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter to return to the big screens. As for a release date, there has been no official announcement yet. With what we do know so far, if and when the film happens, we can expect it sometime in 2021.
