Russian Doll rolled out on Netflix in February 2019 with a dank realistic witty “stuck in a time loop” plot led by Nadia Vulvokov (Natasha Lyonne). Nadia is a misanthropic game developer living in New York. On her 36th birthday, she dies after being hit by a truck. But she wakes up again on the same morning and dies again, and again. Nadia’s brain begins to crack as she finds herself to be miserably helpless being stuck in this infinite time loop!
Natasha Lyonne along with Leslye Headland has co-created the show. It is noteworthy that this show has an all-female squad of creators, writers, and directors. The top cast consists of Natasha Lyonne as Nadia Vulvokov, Elizabeth Ashley as Ruth Brenner, Chloë Sevigny as Lenora Vulvokov, Kate Jennings Grant as young Ruth, Charlie Barnett as Alan Zaveri, Rebecca Henderson as Lizzy, Greta Lee as Maxine and Brooke Timber as Nadia’s’s child.
News about season 2
“We pitched Netflix three seasons of their very bonkers, heartfelt, passionate, this is what we truly feel like is our story-to-tell thought… and they said: ‘Great, the more of this the greater'” said Headland to The Hollywood Reporter. Netflix officially announced the news about the renewal of Russian Doll on 12th June 2019. The official twitter handle of Russian Doll tweeted on the same day: “Sweet Birthday, Babyyy! RussianDoll is coming back for Season 2. Let’s get loopy.” After this great news it was anticipated that season 2 might show up anytime this year. But with the quarantine crisis on the front, it is difficult to make an exact guess about the release date.
What will be the plot of season 2?
What fans really loved about the first season was that it didn’t stick to any popular stereotypes. Despite being quite unconventional, all the characters were very relatable. In the next season, we can expect a deeper insight into Nadia’s search for meaning in life or to make things difficult, a new add-on to the time loop theory!
