Russian Doll Season 2: Release date, Cast, Plot, Trailer, and More!

We all have big hope from the creators of Russian Doll.  They announced the renewal of Season 2′ on June 11, 2019. Many may not know that Leslye Headland, one of the creators, already pitched the series for the three-season story. Leslye Headland stated that they would move with the further season if Russian Doll Season 2 receives positive reviews and a huge success. We believe Russian Doll Season 2 will have the same number of episodes (i.e., eight episodes) as the previous one. However, we are disappointed as the streaming giant is silent on the making of the second season.

Russian Doll Season 2: Cast and Plot!

Little is known about who will be returning alongside Natasha Lyonne’s Nadia for Russian Doll Season 2. But comedy fans will see at least one familiar face entering the world. Annie Murphy, who recently won an Emmy Award for her role in Schitt’s Creek, joins the cast.

Season 1 follows Nadia on her fatal Groundhog Day night. She learns she’s not the only one stuck in a loop. So is Alan, played by Charlie Barnett. We later learn that Alan originally died from committing suicide and that whenever one of them dies the other one also immediately drops dead.
The first season received widespread acclaim and netted Natasha Lyonne a Primetime Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress.

Since there’s no news about Season 2, it seems safe to assume that Lyonne’s Nadia will play some role, even if she’s not necessarily the main character. It sounds like Nadia might not be the main character in Season 2 and beyond, though she could still play a key role in guiding whoever Russian Doll decides to focus on next. This could also give the show a chance to explore the rules of this universe, which are only hinted at in Season 1.

Russian Doll Season 2: Release date and Trailer!

The Season 1 trailer dropped about a month before the episodes did. We should have a better idea of when to expect a new trailer when we know when there will be a Season 2.

Much like the series, the timing of Russian Doll Season 2 is difficult to nail down. The production originally began in March 2020 before shutting down due to the coronavirus pandemic. It took over a year before filming actually resumed in March 2021. We’re assuming that Season 2 will drop in February 2022.
