Samsung Galaxy A8s is now officially with Infinity-O display

Samsung today announced the Galaxy A8s becoming the world’s first smartphone to feature a display hole notch with a camera beating the likes of Huawei Nova 4, Lenovo Z5s and the Honor View 20. The Korean manufacturer first unveiled it in Samsung Developers Conference (SDC) last month and calls it Infinity-O display.

However, the Galaxy A8’s in-display camera is not the only defining feature of the smartphone. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB on-board storage is further expandable with a microSD card up to 512GB.

On the front, the Galaxy A8s features a tall 6.4 inch display with a FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. There screen type is not mentioned as a Super AMOLED so we can assume it’s an old IPS LCD screen. The device is almost devoid of bezels but has a small chin.

On the optics department, the device sports a rear triple camera setup consisting of a primary 24MP camera with f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 10MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and a third 5MP sensor with f/2.2 which is used only for measuring depth.  The front offers a 24MP camera with f/2.0 aperture which is concealed in a 6.7 mm wide camera hole placed on the top left corner of the display.

The Galaxy A8s runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and is backed by a 3,400 mAh battery with adaptive fast charging support over USB type-C. The handset will be available in Blue, Gray and Green color options and can be pre-ordered until December 21 in China after which the actual sales will likely to happen. Samsung hasn’t released an official statement on the price but judging by its specs, it will be placed in the upper mid-range segment.
