Samsung to incorporate Cheaper OLED Displays on 2019 iPhone XS Models

Published

on

Well, it’s not a secret anymore, all of us are aware that Samsung is the only supplier for the OLED panel’s for the previous years iPhone X and also this year’s iPhone XS and XS Max. But then, these panels are costlier and the pricing effects in the overall production, so now Samsung has been planning to offer much more affordable panels.

But then what we need to note here is that more affordable doesn’t always mean worse, to be honest, Samsung has also incorporated the Y-Octa panels which were found to be used on Galaxy Note 9, S9, and also the S9+, this basically makes use of the in-cell touch technology. So this technology will basically allow much lighter, thinner, and cheaper displays so now we can expect Apple to have a better pricing for the XS Max next year.

Sources also reveal that the Y-Octa panels were offered by Samsung this year itself, but then Apple was not happy with the production and hence we can expect a set of new displays in early 2019. Talking about the current pricing in India, the iPhone X is priced at Rs.74,999, iPhone XS Rs.93,000 and the iPhone XS Max is priced at 102,400, we may expect a significant price drop on these variants if the new displays are being used.

But then, ahead of Samsung LG has already started producing the new OLED panels for the iPhone XS Max this month, so the Samsung’s new exclusive touch-integrated panels might be supplied to the other iPhone variants next year. This new technology is expected to be a lot cheaper than separate touch-sensitive layer and hence this will be first rolled out only to the high-end devices and then would probably be rolled out for all the other models too. What are your views on this? Are you expecting a much better display or the quality might just drop down?
