Scorn – Release Date, Trailer and Gameplay

Published

on

Scorn

Scorn is the forthcoming shooter horror game created by Ebb Software for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X. The game is specifically driven by H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksinski’s works.

Developers also proposed that the game is based around the theme of “being tossed into the world”. Very little information is offered regarding the environment of the game. The creators clarified that they want the disturbing setting to be a character in itself.

The game was revealed for the first time on 12 November 2014, with a trailer showcasing pre-alpha gameplay. But despite this, the game stayed in production with a scheduled two-part release. In January 2015, Scorn obtained private investment from an investor and started full production in February 2015.

Later, the development team revealed that it would publish the game as a whole instead of pieces, but the release date had not yet been confirmed.

Release Date

By May 7th, 2020, it was revealed that the video game will be launched specifically on the Xbox Series X running in 4k and 60fps, and will not be available on the former generation of consoles. Scorn will be out on Steam, Windows Store, and GOG.

Gameplay

The player plays a peculiar skinless humanoid, trapped in a nightmarish universe full of mysterious monsters and macabre tapestry, representing a living techno-organic device made up of steel, muscle, and bone.

The player must navigate various intertwined regions in a non-linear way, looking for clues that will reveal more about the game’s world.

The game, so far, has two primary weapons: a pistol and a shotgun. The player begins with a pistol, a 6-shot weapon that does moderate damage to the in-game enemies. It seems to be entirely organic, beginning with the mouth-searching base for the gun that can be opened so that the revolver itself can be withdrawn and traded for the shotgun.

Trailer

Gruesome figures are covered with blood in the teaser, all of which seem to be placed in some sort of cemetery. It is the monstrous picture, indeed.

If the Xbox Series X teaser wasn’t quite enough for you, you should try out 8 mins of gameplay in the video below. Scorn has undoubtedly changed quite a bit since 2017. But one should always have a strong feeling about what the game is all about.

During May 2020s Inside Xbox live stream, Scorn wasn’t the only title revealed. Microsoft received first looks at many separate AAA and independent titles, including a gameplay preview for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Ebb Software revealed that when the game is released, Scorn would be limited to Xbox Series X. No specifics were given regarding a PC or PlayStation release but only Xbox, Windows Store, and Steam are described on the developer’s website.
