Here’s a treat for all the viewers. It turns out that there might still be a chance for Scott Pilgrim to get back all the attention it deserved 10 years ago.
“Scott Pilgrim vs the World” is going to be back in front of us with a different look this time. The director and the cowriter Wright has told Entertainment Weekly that he’s talked to Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley and the film’s executive producer Jared LeBoff about getting a new version of the story on screen.
The story basically talks about how Scott Pilgrim, the protagonist is an unemployed 23-year-old bass guitarist in an up-and-coming garage rock band, dates Knives Chau, a high-school girl five years younger. His past had somehow left him a little woeful given the fact that he had been dumped in his last relationship which made him being disinterested with her present girlfriend. Cut to the time when he falls for Ramona Flowers and decides to break up with Knives but he has trouble breaking up with her and in the meanwhile also tries to romance Ramona! The plot gets its twist here when Scott finds out that he has to overpower and fight to death, 7 exes of Ramona Flowers in order to win her heart.
Well, when it was released back then in 2010, the movie ended up making just over $48 million globally, nowhere even close to its $85 million budget. Despite being packed with rising stars like Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick, along with a pre-MCU Chris Evans and Brie Larson, the action-comedy just didn’t find its audience at the time. It was also shortlisted for the Best Visual Effects category at the 83rd Academy Awards.
An epic plot with an epic twist!
Currently, the movie is being thought of to be released as an anime this time. And it’s been receiving great responses this time! Now finally, it feels like the world’s finally caught up to what Scott Pilgrim was trying to do in the first place.
