Secret Invasion: Release Date, Plot, and more!

Created by Kyle Bradstreet for the streaming service Disney+, Secret Invasion is an upcoming American television miniseries. It is based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name. It is intended to be the ninth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise.

Bradstreet is also the executive producer alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, and Brad Winderbaum. Secret Invasion is scheduled to premiere in early 2023 and will consist of six episodes. It will be part of Phase Five of the MCU.

Secret Invasion Plot and Cast

The show’s crossover status was confirmed via an updated synopsis added to the Disney+ website. It reads: “Secret Invasion is a newly announced series heading to Disney+ that stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos — characters who first met in Captain Marvel.

The crossover event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.” It’s currently unclear exactly how Secret Invasion will bring together Marvel Studios’ wider canon, however, the synopsis opens up the possibility that Skrulls are already impersonating MCU characters.

Star Cobie Smulders hinted that this might be the case in a recent interview. “I mean when we think about the world that they’re in, the Skrulls have been around since we saw them in Captain Marvel,” she said. “They’ve been building in numbers. And are they good? Are they bad? We’re gonna find out in the show. But there’s certainly a lot of them and so it sort of turns into this, ‘Can I trust you? Can I not trust you?’ And it’s really cool. It’s certainly fraught with a lot of tension.”

Talking the cast, includes Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, and Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes.

We will also get to see as the lead villain, Olivia Colman plays an old ally of Fury’s, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo have been cast in undisclosed roles, and Dermot Mulroney is expected to appear as United States President Ritson.

Secret Invasion Release Date

The makers of Secret Invasion have not revealed any official release date until now. But the series is currently under production, and is scheduled to premiere sometime around March 2023. It will consist of six 40–50 minute episodes.

Filming for the series had begun in London by September 2021 and concluded in late April 2022. Additional filming occurred across West Yorkshire and in Liverpool, England.
