We may not have a chance to see Robert Downey Jr. star as IronMan again. But there’s always a silver lining. As the star is all set to return as one of our favorite detectives once again. The very witty and the most known intelligent detectives of all time…Sherlock Holmes.
The earlier Sherlock Holmes movie: Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows had been a complete success and was well received by people of all age groups.
When can we expect the release of the 3rd movie?
The movie was all set to be released by the Warner Bros studios by the end of the year 2020, but due to the current Covid-19 situation, it has been pushed up to December 22, 2021.
In the previous movie, we all had seen it end with “The END?” on Watson’s typewriter, which clearly gave us all a hint of there being a chance for a sequel.
There hasn’t been any update of any theatrical trailer as of now as the production has not yet begun.
As of the cast, we know that Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are signed to reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson…just like old times!!
However, the director of the previous movies, Guy Ritchie is not returning to direct this sequel. The current movie direction is taken up by Dexter Fletcher who is known for movies like Press Gang(1989) and Bohemian Rhapsody(2018).
The 3rd movie is yet to receive a proper title, so far it is only known as Sherlock Holmes 3, but there is a chance for it to change.
The first movie saw Holmes and Watson fighting against Lord Henry Blackwood, while the second film showed us the arch-nemesis, Professor James Moriarty. There have been rumor speculations stating that there might be a return of Professor Moriarty but there isn’t a confirmation from the filmmakers.
The readers of the book have always wondered whether there was something more than friendship for lead Holmes and Watson. The upcoming movie might grant the wish of its readers.
