Sherlock is a British crime television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories.  Four seasons of Sherlock have been produced from 2010 to 2017. Sherlock is a deeply loved show and it has a huge fanbase worldwide. The show has been nominated for several awards and has received a lot of positive feedback. Many people have praised the show for its writing, acting, and direction. The show won in three categories at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, it also won Outstanding Television Movie. The third season of Sherlock has by far been the most-watched drama series in the UK since 2001!

Season 5: Release Date

There has been no confirmed release date regarding the fifth season of Sherlock as of now. But many sources say that it might be released in mid-2022 or 2023. The wait ahead is still a long one.

Who Will We See In Season 5 And What Is The Storyline?

We will definitely be seeing fan-favorite detective duo, Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Watson. There is no doubt about that. As for the other cast members, those who have been constants throughout the course of Sherlock will most likely be seen in season 5.

What Sherlock Is All About?

For the uninitiated, Sherlock is a detective series and it shows Sherlock Holmes as a consulting detective, solving mysteries in modern-day London. He is assisted by his flatmate, Dr John Watson. The police service detective, Inspector Greg Lestrade(played by Rupert Graves) is initially very suspicious of Holmes but overtime his intellect and observational powers make him believe in Sherlock. Watson writes a blog about all their adventures and because of this Holmes becomes a reluctant celebrity. Both ordinary people and the British Government come to him for help.

A recurring feature of the series is Holmes’ conflict with archenemy Jim Moriarty(played by Andrew Scott). Another recurring character in Sherlock is Molly Hopper(played by Louise Brealey), a pathologist at St.Bart’s Hospital who assists Holmes in his cases occasionally. Other recurring characters include Una Stubbs as Mrs. Hudson, Holmes and Watson’s landlady, and Mark Gatiss as Holmes’ elder brother Mycroft.
