Shōgun: Release Date, Trailer and more!

Shōgun is based on the novel of the same name by James Clavell. It is an upcoming period drama television limited series and a remake of the 1980 television series of the same name.

Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Michael De Luca, Michaela Clavell, Tim Van Patten, Eugene Kelly and Ronan Bennett are the executive producers of the show. The series was announced by FX in 2018 and it is scheduled to premiere soon on the pay television channel.

Shōgun Plot and Cast

Shōgun follows the collision of two ambitious men from different worlds and a mysterious female samurai. John Blackthorne is a risk-taking English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan, a land whose unfamiliar culture will ultimately redefine him.

On the other hand, Lord Toranaga is a shrewd, powerful daimyo, at odds with his own dangerous, political rivals. The third is Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but dishonorable family ties, who must prove her value and allegiance.

Coming to the cast, the lead cast members include some popular names like Cosmo Jarvis, Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Fumi Nikaido, Tokuma Nishioka, Takehiro Hira, Ako and Shinnosuke Abe. The other cast members are Yasunari Takeshima, Hiroto Kanai, Toshi Toda, Hiro Kanagawa, Nestor Carbonell, Yuki Kura, Tommy Bastow, Moeka Hosgi, Yoriko Doguchi, Yuka Kouri, Gerardo Barcala and Mako Fujimoto.

Shōgun Release Date

Principal photography was scheduled to start in March 2019 but was postponed to September 2021. It was scheduled to end in April 2022.

Considering everything, we can expect the series to premiere by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. It is confirmed to have ten episodes.
