Single Parents is a sitcom television series created by Elizabeth Meriwether and JJ Philbin, for ABC. The series debuted on September 26, 2018 and had a full 23-episode first season. It was then renewed for a second season which premiered on September 25, 2019. The second season consisted of 22 episodes and ended on May 13, 2020.

The series follows a group of single parents as they lean on each other to help raise their 7-year-old kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood. Will, a 30-something guy, has been so focused on raising his daughter that he’s lost sight of who he is as a man. When the other single parents see just how far down the rabbit hole of PTA, parenting and princesses Will has gone, they band together to get him out in the world and make him realize that being a great parent doesn’t mean sacrificing everything about your own identity.
Single Parents – Season 2 Ratings
The second season of Single parents premiered on September 25, 2019 and ended on May 13, 2020. The season consisted of 22 episodes, and had an average demo rating of 0.60 in the 18-49 demographic, and an average of 2.57 million viewers across the season. These numbers, when compared to the series’ first season, were down by 32% and 24%, respectively. As compared to other scripted shows on ABC, the second season of Single Parents stood at number 12 in terms of demo ratings, and at number 16, in terms of average viewership, on ABC’s list of scripted shows for 2019-20.
Single Parents – Will there be a Season 3?
The sitcom series has received generally positive reviews from critics, some even citing it as the “fall’s funniest new sitcom”. However, despite the positive reviews, ABC cancelled the series in May, 2020. Single Parents will not be returning for a third season in the fall of 2020.
