Skater XL is the evolution of skateboarding gaming, and it pushes the genre towards interactive gameplay focused on mechanics. Players will witness unprecedented board stability and sensitivity when skiing iconic skate spots in the real world.
In July, the forthcoming Skateboard game Skater XL will launch with the “Easy Day High School” route, announced earlier this month by developer Easy Day Studios. The studio said it would also provide three community-made maps, each improved by the studio’s art department.
We are stoked to announce 3 maps created by talented #SkaterXL modding community members – ‘Streets’ by Jean-Olive, ‘Hudland’ by Pactole, & ‘Grant Skate Park’ by Theo – will be the first Skater XL community created content available on all platforms! https://t.co/hnZOGPgntjpic.twitter.com/kUzpCMzcIJ
Once Skater XL releases on July 28 on Windows, PS4, and Xbox One. It will feature three maps made by the game’s modding community during Steam’s Early Access time. Maps are going to be a part of the game for all users.
The three maps are Streets (by Jean-Olive), Fitness Center Hűdland (by Pactole), and Skate Park Grant (by Theo). A video and screenshots were released for these locations, demonstrating the community ‘s progress. Theo joined the production team after developing Grant Skate Park. It is expected to debut with the release of the game 1.0.
Grant Skate Park is a replica of Chicago ‘s famous public skatepark, with a few small improvements to make playing in a game simpler. Streets put together several street spots from various parks, and unique development is the Hűdland Training Facility.
Easy Days Studio co-founder Dain Hedgpeth thanked the game’s mod tools group in a report published to press, which includes of 84,000 people who “have created thousands of awesome charts, fake skate labels, and accessories” in the title.
Hedgpeth states this is “just the launch” of the studio’s efforts to showcase material produced for the audience.
Skater XL is facing some stiff competition for skateboarding enthusiasts, as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is ready to launch on September 4 later this year. XL has drawn comparisons to the Skate series, but only revealed the new Skate title and is expected to be a long time away from publication.
