Fans of Ubisoft’s Assassins’ Creed: Black Flag, fell in love with the games’ naval warfare gameplay and it’s safe to say that most of us have wished for a standalone game that featured the same. Our prayers have been answered in the form of Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones.
Here’s everything we know about Skull and Bones:
Release Date
After suffering a delay in release, much like a lot of titles over the past year, we can now expect Skull and Bones to launch sometime in March 2021. The game never had an official release date announced but from what we’ve gathered from various sources, March 2021 seems to be the best bet.
Trailers
E3 2018 brought to us two trailers for Skull and Bones. The first trailer showcased the game’s rich universe.
The second trailer is an extensive gameplay preview that gives us our best look yet at what Skull and Bones will actually play like. From the trailer, it appears that you’ll be able to command your own ship in Skull and Bones, but the seas you sail will be populated by other players doing the same. There will be several ways to interact with those other players that include sending them to the bottom of the ocean or teaming up with them to take down powerful enemies.
Gameplay
The game will allow you to form an online crew and participate in 5 vs 5 battles with other pirates in ship-to-ship combat. While sinking the enemy is certainly a plus, the true goal of the game seems to be to collect as much sweet, sweet loot as you can while also sinking your foes. It’s not entirely clear at this time whether or not you and other players will be able to assume multiple roles on the ship or how that system of role management will work, but it does appear that much of the action will take place on the open seas.
Rally up your crew of pirates and get ready to pillage all who sail on the high seas in 2021!
