A Canadian-American anthology horror television series created by Aaron Martin, Season 4 “Slasher: Flesh & Blood”follows a wealthy but dysfunctional family gathering for a reunion on a secluded island. Their old wounds and competitive rivalries flare up when the family realizes a masked killer is on the island, intent on cruelly picking them off one by one. Each season is centered on a masked killer with an unknown motive for killing their victims.
As with the past installments of the series, the fourth season that premieres Thursday, August 12, 2021, on Shudder, will combine elements of traditional murder mystery with the intense horror and bold kills that audiences have come to expect.
Joining Cronenberg are Christopher Jacot, Jefferson Brown, Patrice Goodman, Paula Brancati, and Sabrina Grdevich—all veterans of the Slasher anthology series. Alex Ozerov, Jeananne Goosen, Rachel Crawford, and Sydney Meyer will round out the cast as newcomers to the show.
“The producers got in touch with me and said we’ve got this series and we have a role that you might be interested in,” David Cronenberg who stars in Flesh & Blood told EW in June.
“They sort of called out of the blue. That’s often the way it is. I had a Facetime chat with the director and the producer, Adam (MacDonald) and Ian (Carpenter). I was very flattered that they would offer me this role because it is a role, unlike anything that I’ve ever played before. I’m usually playing a sort of dispassionate doctor or scientist and here was a very passionate, angry, tyrannical, demanding, patriarch of a dysfunctional family. There were many scenes where I would do things that I’d never had to do before and that’s always exciting for an actor. So it didn’t take me long to agree to do it.”
