Sony’s PlayStation 5 Event Postponed? Know More

Sony was set to reveal the PlayStation 5 case on 4 June. The company was expected to release a fresh collection of games heading to the next generation gaming console. So far, the company has released the PS5 branding, some of its features, and a new wireless controller that will come included with the device.

Sony is now postponing the PlayStation 5 event planned for June 4th due to continuing disturbances. “While we realize that gamers around the world are happy to see PS5 titles, we don’t feel like it’s time for celebration right now,” says Sony in a Twitter post.

The Reason behind the Postponement of PS5

Sony is specifically reacting to the reaction to the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. And also on the subsequent riots that have taken place in the US and around the world. Sony was intended to use Thursday’s event to highlight PS5 titles. Offering an hour-long event with a first peek at some of the titles that people will enjoy as PlayStation 5 begins this holiday season.

The launch was scheduled to announce fresh games for Sony’s next-generation console coming out at the end of the year.

Sony’s decision came after a week of anger, chaos, and outrage over the killing of George Floyd, who died by the hands of the Minneapolis police on May 25.

Since Floyd passed, thousands of protesters took to the streets of major cities and web forums to criticize violent police violence. It also shed light on the racism and racial inequality that penalizes and cuts short black lives in the United States.

Sony’s decision follows a similar change by EA to postpone its Madden NFL 21 event. Also Google’s decision to postpone its Android 11 beta update. Sony has not yet announced a new PS5 event date.

Neither organization has yet set a deadline for the rescheduling of their activities.

The move has been received with mixed reactions from gamers. Complaints vary from comments that gaming is a means of escapism from life. However, even more, troublesome ideas from people angry about having to wait a little longer to see any game trailers. As much as it may upset certain people, in truth, there are more significant issues than video games.
