Star Trek: Discovery: Release Date, Cast and more!

Created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, Star Trek: Discovery is a television series available on Paramount+. It is the seventh Star Trek series and the first since Star Trek: Enterprise, which ended in 2005.

The first season premiered on September 24, 2017, followed by the second from January to April 2019. The third season was released in October 2020 and concluded in 2021. The fourth season was released in November 2021 and ended in March 2022. A fifth season has been already ordered.

Star Trek: Discovery Plot and Cast

The plot details for the fifth season has not been revealed yet. However, the new season is expected to continue from where Season 4 ended.

The basic premise of the show starts ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series where Commander Michael Burnham’s recklessness starts a war between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire.

She is then court-martialed, demoted and reassigned to the USS Discovery, which has its own way of propulsion called the Spore Drive. Following an adventure in the Mirror Universe, Discovery helps to end the Klingon war. They then investigate seven mysterious signals, a figure called Red Angel and fight a rogue artificial intelligence.

The conflict ends with the Discovery traveling to the 32nd century, more than 900 years into their future. The USS Discovery finds the Federation fragmented in the future and investigates the cause of a cataclysmic event called Burn. Burnham is promoted to Discovery’s captain and the crew then helps to rebuild the Federation and face a space anomaly created by unknown aliens causing destruction throughout the galaxy.

Coming to the cast, we might get to see Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Jason Isaacs in the lead roles. There is a possibility that Wilson Cruz, Anson Mount, David Ajala, Rachael Ancheril, Blu del Barrio and Tig Notaro might reprise their roles.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Release Date

Star Trek: Discovery was renewed for a fifth season back in January 2022. Now considering that, we can expect the fifth season to be released sometime in 2023.

Online reports say that the making is going on full swing for Season 5. The number of episodes is not confirmed for the new season since it has been different in the last four seasons except that the third and fourth had 13 each.
