Created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is an American television series. It is the eleventh Star Trek series and was launched in 2022 as part of Kurtzman’s expanded Star Trek Universe. Goldsman, Kurtzman and Lumet also served as the executive producers of the show alongside Eugene Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Aaron Baiers, Heather Kadin and Henry Alonso Myers.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered on Paramount+ on May 5, 2022, and its first 10-episode season is running through July 7. It has received positive reviews from critics for its episodic storytelling approach and cast. A second season is in production and is expected to premiere in 2023.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Plot and Cast

The developers have not revealed much about the plot of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2. However, it will continue from where Season 1 ended.

The basic premise follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise in the 23rd century as they explore new worlds throughout the galaxy in the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series. It has a contemporary take on that series’ episodic storytelling and 1960s designs and features the following narration from Mount during each episode’s opening credits.

The lead cast members of Season 1 are expected to reprise their roles. The main cast includes Anson Mount, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Bruce Horak and Rebecca Romijn.

Since the second season is still under development, the release date has not been revealed yet. We can expect it to be out in 2023.
