Stars Wars: The Clone Wars season three first episode, Overlord is one of the first parts of Mortis arc which introduces a different view of the force. The Mortis arc is one of the major plotlines of the third season of The Clone Wars, which is quite a struggle between light and dark. The first part is unusually long of the arc that explains the battle between both sides of the force and how Anakin is trying to make a balance in the battle.
The Mortis arc is defined as “a conduit” in the first episode of the third season. Meanwhile, Anakin confronts his conflict between his love and fear of losing his people. The three beings are referred to in the series which are, Son, Daughter, and Father, and they’re known as Mortis Gods. They represent light, darkness, and balance. At the end of the Mortis arc, all three forces are found dead. Son was killed by Anakin, Father kills himself, and Daughter sacrifices herself to Ashoka’s life. Thus, the ending gives the conclusion that balance meaning the ruin of light and dark.
Mortis is more significant in the life of Ashoka instead of Anankin, as she carries the trilogy through the rest of the saga. As when the arc begins, Ashoka sees the older version of herself asking either to leave Anakin or risk the dark side. She leaves him as she leaves the Jedi Order, but remained loyal from far. When she confronts Darth Vader, her loyalty and experiences of Mortis remain with her. Thus, the Mortis arc has a great impact on Ashoka’s story.
With Mortis arc being only imagery in Anakin and Ashoka’s story, but it helped the fans understand the Force and how mythical balance between light and dark works. Ashoka will hopefully appear in Mandalorian season two along with Morai, and it would be the right time for the Force for live-action and characters to explore the mystery of Baby Yoda.
