Co-created by Steve Carell and The Office showrunner Greg Daniels, Space Force is a workplace comedy in the US military realm, first of its kind. US President Donald Trump’s recently launched a new military branch Space Force. The series is loosely based on Trump’s military plans for space.
Plot
The show will feature Carell as General Mark R. Naird who had ambitions of securing a high-command position. But his prospects begin to derail when he is given the leadership of Space Force. General Naird (Carell), while dealing with family conflicts on one sid0e, is to tackle a varied team of scientists to accomplish the goals of the White House.
The formal description of the show says: “A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star Gen. Mark. R. Naird is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.”
Release Dates
Netflix announced on 8th of April that Space Force will premiere on 29th May. The first season will be a run of 10 episodes.
Space Force Cast
As we know Steve Carell will lead the show as General Naird. He will be accompanied by many familiar celebrity faces with recurring roles. The show will also feature two-time Oscar Nominee John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich, Dangerous Liasons) as Dr. Adrian Mallory, Diana Silvers as Em Naird, Ben Schwartz as F. Tony Scarapducci, Tawny Newsome as Angela Ali, and F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fame Lisa Kudrow as General Naird’s wife, Maggie.
Notably, the Carrell’s salary for the show as co-creator and executive producer fees has broken previous records, charging $1 million per episode.
