The series is based on the DC Comics character of the same name created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. Supergirl is the third series set in the Arrowverse. The series has been distributed by Warner Bros. Television Distribution. The first season of Supergirl aired on CBS followed by the next four seasons on The CW. Filming mostly took place in Los Angeles and the lead role is being played by Melissa Benoist.

The first season premiered on 26th October 2015 followed by the second season on 10th October 2016. The third season of Supergirl premiered on 9th October 2017. The series was later renewed for a fourth season which premiered on 14th October 2018. The fifth season premiered on The CW on 6th October 2019 and the series has been renewed later for a sixth season in January 2020. Supergirl has an approval rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 75 out of 100 on Metacritic.

Supergirl was renewed for a sixth and final season in January 2020. Filming of the sixth season commenced from October 2020. Just like other TV shows and movies, production of Supergirl Season 6 was also delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Fans of the series will be happy to know that Supergirl Season 6 will premiere on 30th March 2021 and it will run for 20 episodes. The sixth season was scheduled to premiere in mid-2021 but it was moved up to fill the timeslot of Superman & Lois after it went on a hiatus because of the delay in production caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

Detailed information related to the sixth and final season of Supergirl is not known yet but recently a premiere synopsis released by The CW says that Brainy survives the encounter. The first episode, that has been named “Rebirth” will feature an epic battle with Supergirl and her friends raking on Gamenmae and Lex. The rest is still unknown. All we need to do right now is wait for the premiere on 30th March 2021.
