Survivor is an American version of a competitive reality television show. The Survivor franchise is derived from the Swedish television series Expedition Robinson. Charles Parsons is the director of the Swedish television series. First premiered in 1997. The American series of the same first came in May 2000 on the CBS network. The show has aired forty seasons so far! The franchise has in this year only telecasted its recent season. Read further to know more.

Survivor: Plot

The season shows a group of sixteen or more players splitting into two tribes. Competing against each other are taken to an isolated location. Mostly in a tropical climate. The contestants live off the land with a mere supply for thirty-nine days. Frequent changes in the physical and mental state become a challenge itself.

Consequently, the contestants have to fight for food, rewards, and immunity to protect themselves. Halfway through the game, tribes merged into one. Everyone is competing in an individual capacity for food and immunities. Subsequently, the jury decides and one contestant takes home the grand prize!

Survivor: Season Updates

Survivor Season 1 aired on May 31, 2000, on CBS. After the success of the seasons back to back the franchise has now a long list of forty seasons. The recent season released forty finished airing on May 13, 2020. However, not to worry the makers of the show decided to renew the season. They are coming up with the brand new season forty-one and forty-two later in the year 2021. The production of the upcoming seasons got delayed because of the pandemic.

Nominations and Awards

Survivor has nominations for various awards from Emmy Awards to TCA awards. It has won GLAAD awards for Outstanding Reality Programme in 2018. Pluto TV, ViacomCBS’s free television service added the show on September 1, 2019.
