Sweet Magnolias Season 2 : Renewal Status, Release and Updates!

After lots and lots of teen drama and action or horror series Netflix made a sweet and soothing series. A series that has much focus on emotions rather than violence.A simple story with simple emotions that touches all hearts. Sweet Magnolia is one such delicate and sweet story to come out from Netflix’s stables.

Sweet Magnolias is a story of three women whose friendship and companionship help them overcome every difficulty. The series is being widely appreciated for its romance, dialogues yet the core of the series remains on the friendship of the trio. The story revolves around three South Carolina ladies Maddie Townsend, Helen Decatur, and Dana Sue Sullivan who are best friends since childhood. They guard each other’s back no matter what happens. All three women are facing problems in life. Maddie and Helen have failed relationships while Dana faces problems in her job as a chef.

What is the renewal status of Sweet Magnolias season 2?

The cliffhanger at the end of season 1 is definitely a good indication that the makers are well prepared in advance for a second season. But the show has not been confirmed for renewal yet by Netflix. Netflix gauges audience parameters and has a standard procedure for seeing if the new season is justified or not. This process takes between three to six weeks before renewal or cancellation status is confirmed.

But given the huge response, it has got worldwide the series is easily justified for a new season. Still,  the fans will have to wait for official confirmation from Netflix which will take some time. So fans will have to wait at least for some more time before Sweet Magnolia season 2 gets a green signal.

What cast and crew have to say?

The cast and the crew are also very optimistic regarding its renewal status.

Sweet Magnolia’s co-executive producer Norman Buckley replied regarding the future of series “My hope would be that as soon as we can meet again, we would go right into (Season 2). Once everything opens up. I don’t know how Netflix makes their decisions, but it definitely would be good if we got a second season.”

Actor Chris Klein (as Bill Townsend)  expressed his opinions as “I do believe it was always  Dan Paulson and Sheryl J. Anderson’s goal to move this beyond the Season 1, and the way that the story fills out and fleshes out, we could definitely pick it up and tell more of these characters’ stories. I, for one, really, really hope that we get that opportunity. Selfishly because I want to see what happens to Bill Townsend.”

In an interview actress  Jamie Lynn Spears informed that “If Sweet Magnolias got a Season 2, that would be a dream job. The cast, the crew, and the whole situation was just so ideal for me.”

What will be the release date for Sweet Magnolias season 2?

The whole entertainment industry is badly bruised by the global pandemic. All movies and series have been put on hold. No one knows when this chaos will end. So predicting release date for Sweet Magnolia season 2 is too early now. A reasonable estimate is that the new season should not be expected before 2021 at least.
