Developed by Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt, “Ted Lasso”is an American comedy streaming television series based on a character of the same name that Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League, and follows an American football coach Ted Lasso who heads to the U.K. to manage a struggling London football team in the top flight of English football, the first season of which premiered on August 14, 2020.
The Second Season premiered on Friday, July 23, 2021, on Apple TV+.
The second season is off to an excellent start, picking up a few months after the crushing loss and relegation of the fictional Richmond team down to the second-tier Championship. But unlike season 1 which largely focused on the soccer-ignorant Ted working to win over his skeptical team, the new season has the Richmond crew already on his side, even as they still struggle to actually succeed on the pitch. And it’s that climb back to the sporting success that appears to be a major point of the new season, something that even Ted’s endless enthusiasm might not be able to solve on its own.
