Teddi Mellencamp’s daughter, Slate recently had an accident. Teddi talked about it in a podcast named Teddi Tea Pod. She said that while she had gone to put the trash out, the door had slammed behind her. When she saw nothing behind her, she assumed her daughter to be inside already. Upon going inside the house, she saw her daughter inside sitting silently. Slate whispered “mom” after which Teddi saw her daughter’s finger cut off on the ground. She was taken aback. The little braveheart has to be praised for keeping her calm rather than being chaotic and clumsy.
Teddi Mellencamp also learned that she is not supposed to put ice at cut area. The ice would just freeze and kill the nerves making it difficult to rejoin the parts. Also, three weeks into using the cast, the healing had not progressed the way they expected. The little soldier then had to undergo skin-graft surgery. Now, as her mom shares, Slate has been “able to start using her right hand again” and is out of the cast. She was happy to share with her fans that Slate has been doing well and recovering slowly. After a few weeks, Teddi tended to all the flooding questions on Instagram asking her about Slate’s current situation.
“Yesterday during my Insta Q&A I was flooded with people asking for updates and questions on what happened to Slate Angels finger. Seven weeks ago she was following me outside while I took the trash out and a gust of wind came and the front door slammed on her finger and amputated the tip,” she wrote. Previously Teddi noted that the injury had occurred when she “smashed her finger in the door.” Now, finally, Teddi is breathing a sign of relief.
